Dr. Puro has been active in both private practice and managed care settings in California since 1986, when he relocated from New York City. He joined Coastal Cardiology in June, 2000. His undergraduate training was at New York University. Dr. Puro received his M.D. degree in 1977 at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center and Roosevelt Hospital in NYC, where he stayed on to complete his cardiology fellowship. He is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and nuclear cardiology. Professional interests are preventive cardiology and noninvasive imaging with echocardiography and nuclear perfusion imaging. Hobbies include skiing, horseback riding, and science fiction writing.
