Arterial and Venous Ultrasound

Duplex ultrasound is a tool that a physician can use to diagnose problems with the arteries or veins, in various parts of the body. It can both visualize the anatomy of a vessel and measure the rate of blood flow within a vessel.

Numerous conditions can be evaluated, including:

  • Narrowing or blockage of the carotid arteries
  • Narrowing or blockage of the leg arteries
  • Narrowing or blockage of the renal (kidney) arteries
  • Blood clots (thrombosis) of the deep leg veins

Duplex ultrasound is painless, non-invasive, and does not use radiation.
